And the entire last section was just instant orchestra and the client could not tell when I switched from live to samples. Then a professional brass band wanted one of my pieces so I beefed up the original with instant orchestra patches, the ones with warm and natural brass plus some of the cymbals and chimes. Here’s the Garritan track that got me the commission: It was enough money to send my family to the Philippines to help out my wife’s family. They needed it fast, and there was no purpose spending time on a great mock-up, so I simply use Garritan samples in Finale and got the project done. For example, I had a client in Texas that wanted me to turn my arrangement of Amazing Grace into an orchestra and organ piece that I got performed last November in front of 2000 people.
You know what? Every time I think I’m done with Garritan I simply think about my last year, and there’s so much that I need to be thankful to Garritan for providing food on my family’s table and a shelter over our heads.
